January 9, 2024

The Mexican conductor, Alondra de la Parra, is set to join an artists management agency to be represented in the United States and Canada.

With nearly two decades of experience in the music industry, de la Parra pursued studies in piano and conducting at the Manhattan School of Music. In 2022, she assumed the role of principal guest conductor for the Orchestra Sinfonica di Milano.

Breaking barriers in 2016, she became the first female principal conductor of an Australian orchestra, leading the Queensland Symphony Orchestra until 2019.

For the upcoming 2024 season, de la Parra is scheduled to conduct performances with the Tonhalle-Orchester Zürich, Tenerife Symphony Orchestra, the Hallé Orchestra, Orchester Philharmonique de Monte-Carlo, and Münchner Symphoniker.

Her extensive conducting engagements include notable orchestras such as the Orchestre de Paris, London Philharmonic Orchestra, Tonhalle Orchestra Zurich, WDR Symphony Orchestra, Verbier Festival Orchestra, BBC Philharmonic, Rundfunk-Sinfonieorchester Berlin, and Orchestra dell'Accademia Nazionale di Santa Cecilia. She has also collaborated with prestigious institutions like the Royal Opera House London, Metropolitan Opera, and the American Ballet Theater.

Apart from her musical pursuits, de la Parra is the founder and artistic director of the Paax (Music) GNP Festival. She also serves as a reporter for the German broadcaster Deutsche Welle, conducting interviews with notable figures such as John Malkovich, Jan Lisiecki, Gautier Capuçon, and Zenaida Yanowsky.

In 2004, she established the Philharmonic Orchestra of the Americas (POA), achieving notable success with its first recording, "Mi Alma Mexicana," on Sony Classical, which reached the top 10 of the U.S. Billboard Classical Charts. It marked the first classical recording in Mexico to achieve platinum sales.
