The Bavarian Radio Symphony Orchestra has unveiled its lineup for the 2024-25 season, spotlighting a diverse array of vocal performances.
Renowned conductor Sir Simon Rattle will lead Johann Sebastian Bach’s “St. Matthew Passion,” featuring a stellar cast including Mark Padmore, Camilla Tilling, Magdalena Kožená, Andrew Staples, Roderick Williams, and Georg Nigl on September 26 & 27, 2024.
Following that, Sir Simon Rattle will present a captivating mix of works by De Falla, Golijov, Bernstein, and Stravinsky, featuring Rinat Shaham, Katia and Marielle Labèque, Christopher Patrick Corbett, Stefan Schilling, Raphaël Séguinier, and Gonzalo Grau on October 4 & 5, 2024.
In November 2024, Sir Simon Rattle returns to conduct the second act of Wagner’s “Tristan und Isolde,” starring Stuart Skelton, Lise Davidsen, Karen Cargill, Franz-Josef Selig, and Sean Michael Plumb on November 1 & 3.
The season continues with Herbert Blomstedt leading performances of Stravinsky and Mendelssohn works, featuring Christina Landshamer, Marie Henriette Reinhold, and Tilman Lichdi on January 10 & 11, 2025.
On February 9, 2025, Sir Simon Rattle returns with a program of music by Bach, featuring Carolyn Sampson, Tim Mead, Thomas Hobbs, and Konstantin Krimmel.
February 13 & 14, 2025, sees Sir Simon Rattle conducting Brahms’ “German Requiem,” alongside Lucy Crowe and André Schuen, with additional music by Mark Anthony Turnage.
Daniel Harding takes the podium from March 6-11, 2025, for Mahler’s “Das Lied von der Erde,” featuring Fleur Barron and Andrew Staples, along with Mendelssohn’s Symphony No. 5.
March 22, 2025, brings a unique performance from Sir Simon Rattle, Stefan Tischler, Norbert Ommer, and the Bavarian Radio Chorus, presenting works by Helmut Lachenmann, Luciano Berio, and Pierre Boulez.
Conductor Ariane Matiakh leads soprano Christel Loetzsch and violinist Renaud Capuçon in a program of music by Pascal Dusapin on April 25, 2025.
May 15 & 16, 2025, sees Simone Young conducting Maria Bengtsson and Michael Volle in works by Webern, Berg, and Zemlinsky.
Sir Simon Rattle returns at the end of May to lead the Bavarian Radio Chorus in a program featuring music by Pierre Boulez, Francis Poulenc, and Maurice Ravel on May 29 & 30, 2025.
Wrapping up the season, Esa-Pekka Salonen presents Ferruccio Busoni’s Concerto for piano and orchestra with male choir, featuring Igor Levit and the Bavarian Radio Chorus from June 19-21, 2025.
