December 8, 2023

During the two-year "Young Artistic Elite" program from 2024 to 2026, the NOVO Quartet, recognized as one of the participating groups by the Danish Arts Foundation (Statens Kunstfond), will receive a substantial grant of €68,000. This financial support forms the core of the program, enabling the quartet, composed of violinists Kaya Kato Møller and Nikolai Vasili Nedergaard, violist Daniel Śledziński, and cellist Signe Ebstrup Bitsch, to embark on ambitious tours and recording projects. Additionally, they plan to expand their chamber music festival.

Originating in Copenhagen in 2018, the NOVO Quartet is presently pursuing graduate studies at the Universität für Musik und darstellende Kunst Vienna under the guidance of Professor Johannes Meissl. The quartet has garnered recognition as major prize winners at prestigious competitions such as the Carl Nielsen, Irene Steels-Wilsing Foundation, Concours de Genève, and Trondheim International Chamber Music Competitions.

Having studied under Professor Tim Frederiksen at The Royal Danish Academy of Music, the quartet has benefited from mentorship by members of the Alban Berg, Artemis, and Danish String Quartets. Expressing their gratitude, the group shared their excitement about being selected for the program and acknowledged the significant impact of the €68,000 grant, anticipating the opportunities it will unlock for their growth and the realization of various exciting projects on a global scale. They expressed profound appreciation to Statens Kunstfond for this recognition, emphasizing that numerous doors have now opened wide for them.
