Rilian Trio Takes Top Honors at the 2023 Trondheim International Chamber Music Competition

Established in the year 2000, the Trondheim International Chamber Music Competition (TICC) of Norway is organized every two years. It alternates between hosting editions focused on string quartets and piano trios, featuring both advanced and emerging artists from around the world.

For the 2023 edition of TICC, three ensembles—Trio Incendio, Trio Tokava, and Rilian Trio—were selected from an initial group of nine participants to compete in the final, which took place on September 30 at Norway's Free Mason Hall.

The results of the competition are as follows:

  • Rilian Trio claimed the 1st prize, along with a cash prize of 15,000 EURO.
  • Trio Tokava secured the 2nd prize, accompanied by a cash prize of 10,000 EURO.
  • Trio Incendio earned the 3rd prize, along with a cash prize of 5,000 EURO.

Additionally, the Rilian Trio received The Commission Prize (1,000 EURO) and the Audience Prize, while the Jury's Special Prize was awarded to Trio Tokava.

The winning ensembles will be granted opportunities for performances, participation in masterclasses, and a print by the esteemed Norwegian artist Håvard Homstvedt. Moreover, a special prize from the jury will also be presented.

The jury for this competition, led by Anthony Marwood, includes Anja Lechner, Arisa Fujita, Berit Cardas, Christian Ihle Hadland, Daniel Müller-Schott, and Stefan Mendl.
