Hello! If you're a fan of the Cleveland Orchestra's annual Martin Luther King, Jr. Celebration Concert, mark your calendars for the morning of Saturday, January 6.

At 10 a.m. on that day, make sure to be by the phone or online, ready to secure free tickets for the 2024 event. The tickets will be released to the public on a first-come, first-served basis, and based on past patterns, they're likely to be gone by noon.

The concert itself will take place at 7 p.m. on Sunday, January 14, at Severance Music Center. Assistant conductor Daniel Reith and guest conductor William Henry Caldwell will lead an inspiring program featuring diverse performances by the orchestra and the Martin Luther King, Jr. Celebration Chorus, a volunteer ensemble made up of singers from Cleveland-area churches.

This year's program will specifically commemorate the 60th anniversary of the Civil Rights Act, showcasing music by Black, female, and immigrant composers. One highlight will be "Can You See?," a recent composition by Allison Loggins-Hull, the orchestra's current Daniel R. Lewis Composer Fellow.

The 2024 program will also include a performance of Ravel's "Tzigane" by violinist Amaryn Olmeda, the winner of the 2021 Sphinx Competition organized by the Detroit-based Sphinx Organization, which supports young Black and Latinx classical musicians.

Concert tickets can be obtained in person at the Severance box office, online at clevelandorchestra.com, or by phone at 216-231-1111. They will be released on a first-come, first-served basis, with a limit of four per household.

That's not all the orchestra has planned to honor the legacy of Martin Luther King, Jr. On the following day, Monday, January 15, they will once again host their popular Open House & Day of Music, inviting the public without the need for reservations or tickets.
