The Madison Lyric Stage is preparing to stage Gian Carlo Menotti’s Amahl and the Night Visitors.

This professional, non-profit theater company will perform the opera on December 14 and 15, 2024, at the First Congregational Church in Madison.

Marc Deaton, the artistic director of Madison Lyric Stage, shared, "Amahl and the Night Visitors has become a cherished holiday tradition, and we’re thrilled to bring it to the shoreline, where it could potentially become an annual event for families to enjoy together."

The opera, Amahl and the Night Visitors, tells the heartwarming tale of a magical star, a young shepherd, and the power of selfless love to create miracles. Commissioned by NBC, it was the first opera specifically written for television.
