Opera Columbus has reached a significant moment in its artistic journey with the introduction of Dr. Everett McCorvey as the inaugural Principal Guest Conductor. This esteemed appointment signifies a crucial phase in the opera company's history, reinforcing its dedication to artistic excellence and forward-thinking.

Dr. McCorvey, renowned for his role as a conductor, educator, and performer, has already made a profound impact on the opera world. He holds key positions such as founder of the American Spiritual Ensemble, director of the University of Kentucky Opera Theatre, president of Global Creative Connections, and artistic director of the National Chorale. His commitment to musical brilliance and fostering an inclusive arts community align perfectly with Opera Columbus's vision. In his groundbreaking role, Dr. McCorvey will not only conduct but also serve as an artistic collaborator, working closely with the company's leadership.

Having recently judged the Cooper-Bing Vocal Competition and conducted Carmen, named best opera production of the year by BroadwayWorld, Dr. McCorvey's new role will involve leading one opera per season, mentoring the Crane Directing Fellow, and engaging with the Central Ohio community through various programs and events.
