French Conductor Ariane Matiakh: A Rising Star in the World of Classical Music
September 20, 2023

Rachel Bertaut and Isabella Bartlett of the UK-based Askonas Holt agency will be representing the French conductor Ariane Matiakh.

Originally, Matiakh was a pianist but later pursued conducting studies at the University of Vienna. During this period, she also performed as a singer with the renowned Arnold Schoenberg Choir under the batons of esteemed conductors like Nikolaus Harnoncourt and Adam Fischer. Additionally, she received training from Leopold Hager, Yuji Yuasa, and Seiji Ozawa.

Matiakh is currently entering her second season as the Principal Conductor of the Württembergische Philharmonie Reutlingen. In the upcoming 2023/24 season, she will be making her debut with the Finnish Radio Symphony Orchestra and the Royal Liverpool Philharmonic. She will also be returning to conduct the Orchestre de Paris, Orchestre du Capitole de Toulouse, and Orchestre Métropolitain.

Following the release of her Capriccio recording featuring both piano concertos by Zara Levina with the Berlin Radio Symphony Orchestra, Matiakh received a GRAMMY Award nomination. She has also recorded works by Johanna Doderer and a disc of music by Francis Poulenc and Jean Françaix for the same label.

In 2022, the French Ministry of Culture honored Matiakh by appointing her as an Officier de l’Ordre des Arts des Lettres.
