Duo of Distinction: Amy Moore and Jessica O'Donoghue Named Co-Artistic Directors for The Song Company's Landmark 40th Season
August 2, 2023

The Song Company has revealed that Amy Moore and Jessica O’Donoghue, both accomplished vocalists, will jointly assume the roles of Co-Artistic Directors for the company's 40th season in 2024. This decision aligns with the company's ongoing efforts to reshape its business and artistic strategies. The process was initiated with a thorough evaluation of its operations in September 2022, followed by the establishment of an Artistic Advisory Committee comprising artists and Board members, entrusted with guiding the company's artistic choices.

Concurrently with this strategic shift, Antony Pitts, the former Artistic Director, decided to step down from his position after seven years of service.

Jack Percy, Chair of the Board, stated, "Through their current roles in our artistic leadership model, Amy and Jessica have garnered admiration from our audience, vocal artists, and other essential stakeholders. Their appointment as Co-Artistic Directors recognizes their invaluable contributions as forward-thinking planners, exceptional performers, and leaders."

Moore and O'Donoghue will operate in a part-time capacity, collaborating with Guest Directors on the Song Company's 40th anniversary season, which is set to launch in late October.

Expressing her sentiments, Moore remarked, "I feel honored that Jess and I are entrusted with shaping The Song Company's creative direction. Despite our diverse musical backgrounds, we share a profound passion for chamber vocal music and a deep respect for the Song Company's achievements over the past four decades. I eagerly anticipate the future."

O'Donoghue also conveyed her enthusiasm, stating, "I'm excited to join forces with Amy as we guide The Song Company into its next phase. We have a vision to celebrate the abundant talent in our nation, showcasing Australia's finest singers, conductors, and composers, as we elevate chamber vocal music to unprecedented heights."

Furthermore, The Song Company has introduced Kimbali Harding, an educator, musicologist, and performer, as a new addition to its Board. Harding, who holds degrees from the Sydney Conservatorium of Music, the École Normale de Musique de Paris, and Sorbonne Université, recently assumed the role of CEO at the Australian Youth Orchestra.

Percy emphasized, "Her profound insights into music education and pathways for emerging artists will enhance the Board's expertise as we design the Emerging Artist program, backed by new multi-year funding from the Ian Potter Foundation. I am extremely delighted with these appointments."
