Don Giovanni: A Tale of Seduction and Consequences
April 4, 2024

Arizona Opera will be staging 'Don Giovanni,' an acclaimed opera by Mozart, recounted as the tale of the libertine Don Juan. The performance will be in Italian but will include English and Spanish supertitles for accessibility.

The plot revolves around Don Giovanni's attempts to seduce Donna Anna, resulting in unintended consequences as he inadvertently kills her father, the Commendatore. Donna Anna seeks vengeance through her fiancé, Don Ottavio. The opera tracks Don Giovanni's scandalous exploits with the assistance of his servant Leporello, as he deceives and seduces various individuals while evading accountability by concealing his identity. However, his encounters lead him to a pivotal moment in a cemetery where the Commendatore's statue warns him of impending consequences. Will Don Giovanni choose to repent when given the chance to change his ways?

Performance dates are scheduled for April 20 & 21, 2024, at Symphony Hall in Phoenix, and April 27 & 28, 2024, at The Linda Ronstadt Music Hall in Tucson.

Audience discretion is advised due to episodes of violence and assault depicted in 'Don Giovanni,' along with the use of fog, haze, and flashing lights.
