Harmonizing Excellence: Valentina Ciardelli's Journey from Pianist to Profound Virtuoso at Trinity Laban Conservatoire

Valentina Ciardelli, a talented individual who excels as a composer, double bass player, performer, and visual artist, has recently been appointed as a professor at the Trinity Laban Conservatoire of Music and Dance in London.

Originally trained as a pianist, Ciardelli shifted her focus to the double bass when she was 20 years old. She embarked on her double bass studies at the Istituto Musicale L. Boccherini in Lucca, Italy, and later pursued advanced training at the Royal College of Music and Trinity Laban under the guidance of Leon Bosch. Upon completing her studies, she was honored with the Carne Trust Junior Fellowship from the Conservatoire.

Valentina Ciardelli has garnered several prestigious awards throughout her career, including the first prize in the RCM Double Bass Competition in 2016, the Vernon Elliot Double Bass Competition in 2018, the Vivian Joseph Classical Concerto Competition in 2018 under the String Category, and the De Simone and Partners prize at the Chamber Music Festival in Rome.

In addition to her accomplishments, Ciardelli has been a finalist in notable competitions such as the Migliori Diplomati D’Italia in 2015, the Galicia Garcia Graves Double Bass Competition, and the Bradetich Foundation competition in Texas. Her talents have taken her far and wide, including being a former member of the Gustav Mahler Jugendorchester and serving as an Artist in Residence at Canada's Banff Centre in 2019.
