Zeffirelli's Spectacular 'Turandot' Takes Center Stage at The Metropolitan Opera: A Season of Magnificent Performances

The Metropolitan Opera is gearing up to showcase Franco Zeffirelli’s rendition of Puccini’s “Turandot” for a total of 17 showings.

Ukrainian conductor Oksana Lyniv will be making her Met debut, leading two sets of performers. The primary lineup will include Elena Pankratova as the titular character alongside tenor SeokJong Baek as Calàf. They will be supported by Aleksandra Kurzak as Liù and Vitalij Kowaljow as Timur. Soprano Juliana Grigoryan will step in as Liù on March 13, marking her debut with the company.

The secondary cast for spring will feature Christine Goerke, Roberto Alagna, Gabriella Reyes, Angel Blue, and Peixin Chen.

A third ensemble will be conducted by Marco Armiliato, featuring Pankratova and Baek alongside Olga Kulchynska and Soloman Howard.

Performances of “Turandot” will take place from February 28 to June 7, 2024. Selected performances on February 28, March 16, April 19, and June 4 will be broadcast live on Metropolitan Opera Radio via the SiriusXM app. Additionally, on March 16, the performance will be aired on The Robert K. Johnson Foundation–Metropolitan Opera International Radio Network.
