Lewis Theater in the Guggenheim, located at 1071 Fifth Avenue, NY. Tickets are available for $55, and a Choose-What-You-Pay option is also offered.

Experience the allure of one of Puccini's most captivating operas, "Turandot," featuring rich melodies and captivating visuals. The narrative revolves around a beautiful and influential princess undergoing a transformative journey. This opera is intricate, given Puccini's untimely death before its completion, often performed with an ending by Franco Alfano. However, Washington National Opera's new production will showcase a commissioned ending by Grammy Award-winning composer Christopher Tin and playwright/screenwriter Susan Soon He Stanton. The premiere is scheduled for May 2024 at the Kennedy Center.

Francesca Zambello, the Artistic Director of Washington National Opera, will engage in a discussion with Soon He Stanton and Tin about crafting a contemporary "Turandot." This rendition portrays a resilient woman overcoming a tumultuous past, leading to the demise of tyranny and the ascent of democracy. The session will include performances of key excerpts by talented singers.

Featuring music by Giacomo Puccini and Christopher Tin, with a libretto by Giuseppe Adami, Renato Simoni, and Susan Soon He Stanton.
