Teatro Real Celebrates Excellence in the Arts: Honoring Pablo Heras-Casado, Robert Wilson, and Outstanding Performers

For the third consecutive year, the Teatro Real is preparing to present accolades for excellence in the arts.

This year, conductor Pablo Heras-Casado, director Robert Wilson, sopranos Saioa Hernández and Sara Blanch, and baritones Leight Melrose and Martin Winkler will be honored during a ceremony scheduled for May 22.

The event will feature musical performances by pianist Javier Perianes.

Hernández is being commended for her contributions to productions of "Turandot" and "Medea," while Blanch is being recognized for her portrayals of Fiorilla in "Il turco in Italia" and Dircé in "Medea." Winkler's outstanding performance as Kovaliov in "The Nose" and Melrose's portrayal of Richard Nixon in "Nixon in China" are also being celebrated.
