Teatro dell’Opera di Roma has announced the world premiere of Silvia Colasanti’s opera "L’ultimo viaggio di Sindbad."

This production will conclude the 2023-24 season and was commissioned by the Fondazione Capitolina.

The new work is part of a project featuring three contemporary operas. Next season, the company will present the Italian premiere of Kaija Saariaho’s "Adriana Mater," directed by Peter Sellars, followed by Lucia Ronchetti’s "Inferno."

"L’ultimo viaggio di Sindbad" includes a libretto by Fabrizio Sinisi and is inspired by a text by Erri De Luca. Luca Micheletti will lead the cast, which also features Roberto Frontali, Paolo Antognetti, Roberto Abbondanza, Vincenzo Capezzuto, and others.

Enrico Pagano will conduct, with direction by Leila Fteita.

The opera will be performed at the Teatro Nazionale from October 16 to October 23, 2024.
