Iris Nemani, an experienced arts administrator, curator, and producer, is set to assume the position of Director at Stanford Live, the primary presenter of performing arts at Stanford University, starting from April 1, 2024.

With over three decades of expertise in arts administration and curation, Nemani most recently served as the Chief Programming Officer at Toronto's Harbourfront Centre, a hub for contemporary art, culture, and ideas. Her accomplishments include initiating international contemporary dance series and an international children’s festival.

Her previous roles encompassed being the director of operations for Dancap Productions, general manager of the Young Centre for the Performing Arts, and company manager for Live Entertainment Corporation of Canada's productions of Ragtime (Los Angeles and Vancouver), Showboat (Toronto and National Tour), and Phantom of the Opera (Toronto).

Nemani holds a bachelor's degree in applied arts in interior design from Toronto Metropolitan University.

Deborah Cullinan, Stanford's vice president for the arts, expressed enthusiasm about Nemani's appointment, stating, "Iris is going to bring a remarkable breadth of experience and creative thinking to Stanford Live that will serve our audiences in so many ways." Cullinan emphasized Nemani's understanding of how arts organizations can be central to community life, making her an ideal fit for Stanford Live and the university.

Nemani shared her excitement, saying, "I am delighted to join the Stanford Live team to bring innovative, artistic experiences to Stanford and the surrounding Bay Area communities." She looks forward to exploring opportunities within Stanford's academic environment for artists, inviting them into the learning environment, and collaborating with Stanford’s community of students, faculty, staff, and Stanford Live’s advisory council.
