26 January, 2025

Sir Bryn Terfel is set to headline the closing concert of the Llangollen Eisteddfod on July 13, 2025.

The renowned bass-baritone, fresh off a series of performances in Tosca at the Metropolitan Opera, will showcase selections from his album Sea Songs. He will be accompanied by the Fisherman’s Friends, a folk group from Por Isaac, Cornwall, as well as Welsh folk singer Eve Goodman.

This concert will mark the finale of the Pendine International Voice of the Future Competition, with Terfel presenting the Pendine Trophy to the winner.

"The Pendine International Voice of the Future competition offers a fantastic opportunity for young singers to gain recognition, and it can serve as a springboard for promising careers on the international stage," Terfel said in a press statement.

Submissions for the competition are currently open, with the preliminary rounds and semifinals scheduled for July 11, followed by the final on the 13th.
