Resignation of Hong Kong-born Conductor Marks the End of an Era for Antwerp Symphony Orchestra

The conductor, originally from Hong Kong, has informed the Antwerp Symphony Orchestra that she will be resigning in the middle of 2024, concluding her tenure as the orchestra's youngest chief after serving for five years.

Currently residing in the Netherlands, Chan, now 36, has been increasingly sought after in Europe. She has also switched her representation from HarrisonParrott in London to CCM in Berlin.

Chan expresses, "My experience with the Antwerp Symphony Orchestra has been significant on numerous fronts. We have grown and learned together, and I extend my best wishes to the orchestra for their continued success. I will always treasure the wonderful memories of my time in Antwerp, collaborating and touring with the orchestra, and I eagerly anticipate reconnecting with the marvelous Antwerp audiences in the future."
