23 June, 2023

The newly appointed chief conductor of the New York Philharmonic returned to Venezuela over the weekend to reconnect with El Sistema and oversee the filming of a production of Beethoven's Fidelio.

During his visit, he received all the necessary support from the current government and a local sponsor called Bancamiga.

With Bancamiga's backing, the Venezuelans filled the Sistema room in Quebrada Honda with their applause, expressing gratitude to the Simón Bolívar Symphony Orchestra of Venezuela, the Simón Bolívar National Choir, and the Manos Blancas Choir. Dudamel, Arvelo, and artistic producer Gabriela Camejo made it possible for them to witness an exceptional performance.

Ariel José Martínez, the executive president of Bancamiga, expressed his emotional response to the collaboration, stating that the institution supported Dudamel and Arvelo in their efforts to promote integration. This aligns with Bancamiga's strategy of social commitment and cultural dissemination.
