Puccini's Legacy: A Centenary Celebration of 'Bohème and Beyond

Chicago Opera Theater will commemorate the 100th anniversary of Giacomo Puccini’s death with a concert titled “Bohème and Beyond – The Legacy of Puccini.”

This event will showcase the influence of Puccini’s compositions on the development of opera and musical theater. It will take place at DePaul University’s Gannon Hall in the Holtschneider Performance Center on December 7.

The concert will feature cherished arias and ensembles from Puccini’s operas, along with selections from works by composers inspired by him, including Jules Massenet, Franz Lehár, Leoš Janáček, Erich Wolfgang Korngold, Samuel Barber, Gian Carlo Menotti, Daniel Catán, Huang Ruo, Richard Rodgers, Stephen Sondheim, Andrew Lloyd Webber, and Adam Guettel.

Performers include tenor Geoffrey Agpolo, sopranos Tracy Cantin and Meghan Kasanders, pianist and music director Yasuko Oura, baritone Laureano Quant, and tenor Chaz’men Williams-Ali. General Director Lawrence Edelson and renowned dramaturg Cori Ellison will provide insights into the musical pieces and the extraordinary legacy of Puccini throughout the concert.
