Peter Oundjian Named Music Director of Colorado Symphony Starting 2025-26 Season

The Colorado Symphony has announced that Peter Oundjian will become their Music Director for a four-year term starting with the 2025-26 season. Oundjian, who began with the Symphony as Principal Conductor in the 2022-23 season, expressed his excitement about the new role.

In a statement, Oundjian said, “It has been a true pleasure working with the talented musicians of the Colorado Symphony, first as a guest conductor and more recently as their Principal Conductor. I am deeply honored to assume the role of Music Director and continue our musical journey together. This new chapter presents an exciting chance to strengthen our community connections, foster innovation, and achieve new artistic milestones. I am eager to build on our past successes and deliver inspiring performances to Colorado audiences in the future.”

Before his conducting career, Oundjian was a renowned solo violinist and a member of the Tokyo String Quartet. He served as the music director of the Toronto Symphony Orchestra for 14 years and led the Royal Scottish National Orchestra for six years. Additionally, he has been the music director of the Colorado Music Festival since 2019.
