The Peking Opera is set to make its debut in New York as part of the inaugural Chinese Cultural Heritage Festival.
On January 17 and 18, 2025, the David H. Koch Theater will host the performance titled Westward Spread of Eastern Opera, which will feature a collaboration between the Tianjin Peking Opera Theater, the Tianjin Youth Peking Opera Troupe, and Tianjin Art Vocational College. The audience will be treated to four iconic Peking Opera productions: Legend of the White Snake, Three Times Stealing the Nine-Dragon Goblet, Farewell My Concubine, and Uproar in Heaven.
The cast includes prominent performers such as Xiaoliang Shi and Xiujun Zhao, both esteemed winners of the Plum Blossom Awards, alongside Chunyuan Tang and the seven-year-old Zhiyuan Zheng.
The Cultural Heritage Festival was conceived by Meng Shi, the founder of Oever, the organization behind this exciting cultural event.
