Initially appointed in 2018, Tausk has significantly revamped the orchestra's digital performance series and introduced Canadian contemporary music into its repertoire. Under his leadership, the VSO has showcased compositions by five indigenous composers.

As a guest conductor, Tausk has performed with prestigious orchestras worldwide, including the Concertgebouworkest, Rotterdam Philharmonic Orchestra, and Los Angeles Philharmonic, among others.

Angela Elster, President & CEO of the VSO, expressed enthusiasm about the extension, highlighting Tausk's dedication to both musicians and audiences in Vancouver. Tausk himself remarked on his commitment to fostering curiosity within the orchestra and the community, aiming to elevate artistic standards and create memorable musical experiences across Vancouver and the Lower Mainland.
