Opera Southwest will showcase “Madama Butterfly” beginning on October 27, 2024.

The production will feature four performances through November 3 at the National Hispanic Cultural Center-Journal Theatre.

Cecilia Violetta López stars as Cio Cio San, alongside tenor Hak Soo Kim as Pinkerton and Laurel Semerdjian as Suzuki. The cast also includes Matthew Hanscom, John Tiranno, Javier Ortiz, Ivan Conrad, and Chandry Abreu.

The production is conducted by Anthony Barese and directed by Susan Stone Li, with scenic design by Carey Wong, costumes by Kaylee Silcocks, wigs and makeup by Jacqueline Chavez, lighting by Daniel Chapman, and chorus direction by Aaron Howe.

This season, Opera Southwest will also debut “Llantos 1492” and “Doña Clementina.”
