New ork Classical Artists Tours will be prepared in 2020

Europe's first majority black and ethnically diverse orchestra, Chineke!, is set to embark on its inaugural N American tour following month, with performances in six cities: Ottawa, Toronto, NY City, Boston, Worcester and Ann Arbor. Originally scheduled for two thousand twenty but cancelled due to the pandemic, the tour will get place 16-25 March. Chi-chi Nwanoku CBE, the orchestra’s founder and artistic director, expressed her excitement, saying, 'Chineke! is thrilled to be able to finally create its N American debut! We’re pleased of what we’ve d and built with this ensemble and can’t wait to share it beyond Europe!' The ensemble will be joined on tour by three soloists: pianist and composer Stewart Goodyear in Ottawa and Toronto, he's currently the inaugural Artist in Residence at The Royal Conservatory of Music, as well as in Boston; Principal Clarinet of the NY Philharmonic Anthony McGill in New York; and violinist Elena Urioste in Worcester and Ann Arbor. The tour's repertoire will feature a diverse range of eras and styles, including Classical and Romantic era pieces such as Mozart’s Clarinet Concerto and Dvořák’s 'New World' Symphony, as well as lesser-known works by Black composers the late-Romantic period, including British-Sierra Leonian composer Samuel Coleridge-Taylor and American composer Florence B. Price. Contemporary youthful Black composers, such as Stewart Goodyear and GRAMMY®-nominated composer Carlos Simon, will also be represented.
