Melanie La Couture Takes the Baton: New CEO at the Helm of Orchestre Symphonique de Montréal
25 May, 2024

The Orchestre symphonique de Montréal (OSM) has named Mélanie La Couture as its new CEO, succeeding Madeleine Careau. La Couture, a graduate of Polytechnique Montréal and the University of Western Ontario, brings a wealth of experience, having served as managing director of the Montreal Heart Institute's Foundation and later as its president and CEO.

She previously spent 11 years as the OSM's COO before transitioning to the Montreal Heart Institute. La Couture's appointment follows an extensive international search process led by the OSM board of directors and supported by an executive search firm.

Her selection was unanimous, with the board recognizing her leadership skills, philanthropic expertise, and clear vision for the OSM's future. Lucien Bouchard, president of the OSM's board of directors, expressed confidence in La Couture's ability to uphold the orchestra's commitment to excellence and innovation.

La Couture, in turn, expressed her honor at returning to the OSM, praising the institution's strong administrative and artistic foundations. She looks forward to collaborating with Music Director Rafael Payare and the dedicated teams at the OSM to further enhance the orchestra's impact on the Montreal and Quebec communities.
