The Accademia di Santa Cecilia has announced that Maestro Massimo Biscardi will become its new President and Superintendent.

The organization’s board noted that Biscardi received the required two-thirds vote for his appointment. He will officially assume his new role in February 2025.

Biscardi has performed as a pianist and conductor with the Accademia Nazionale di Santa Cecilia, Teatro Colón in Buenos Aires, Arena di Verona, Teatro Massimo in Palermo, Teatro di San Carlo, and the Alessandro Scarlatti Orchestra of Naples. From 1992 to 2010, he served as the Artistic Director of the Teatro Lirico di Cagliari, and from 2012 to 2014, he worked as an Artistic Consultant for the Orchestra Mozart. In 2014, he became Superintendent and Artistic Director of the Fondazione Teatro Petruzzelli di Bari.

In 2001, he was honored with the Premio Abbiati.
