Lise Davidsen will be the star of an upcoming Decca Classics release of Wagner’s “The Flying Dutchman.”
The recording took place during live concerts with the Oslo Opera on August 22 and 24, 2024.
This new recording will feature Davidsen performing alongside Gerald Finley and Stanislas de Barbeyrac. Edward Gardner, the new music director of the Oslo Opera House, will conduct the Opera Orchestra and Chorus. The cast also includes Brindley Sherratt, Anna Kissjudit, and Eirik Grøtvedt.
These performances will mark Davidsen’s debut in the role of Senta, and according to her management, it will be her sole appearance in this role.
Davidsen is a recording exclusive for Decca Classics and has previously released four solo albums, including works by Verdi and Wagner, as well as a Christmas album. This season, she will be performing the title role in “Tosca” at several major opera houses, including the Metropolitan Opera, Berlin State Opera, Bayerische Staatsoper, and Wiener Staatsoper.
