Legendary Pianist Menahem Pressler Passes Away at Age 99, Leaving a Lasting Musical Legacy

Luminary German-born Israeli-American pianist Menahem Pressler has passed far in London today, aged ninety-nine. During his long career, spanning nearly seven decades, Mister Pressler received numerous awards and honors including six Grammy nominations and multiple honorary doctorates. He came to the United States in one thousand nine hundred forty-sixth, after fleeing Germany with his parents, to escape the Nazis. He went on to win first prize at the Debussy International Piano Competition, in San Francisco, and shortly there after made his NY debut with the Philadelphia Orchestra.

Mister Pressler commenced teaching at IN Univ and started the Beaux Arts Trio in one thousand nine hundred fifty-fifth. The trio made more than fifty recordings are universally regarded as one of the most formidable piano trios of all time. “Mr. Pressler was a brilliant pianist, an extraordinary teacher, and gentle soul who's left an permanent label on generations of pianists around the globe,” Abra Bush, Jacobs School of Music Dean has today said.
