Renowned tenor Juan Diego Flórez has announced the launch of his own record label. Named Florez Records, this venture marks his departure from Sony Classical and Decca Classics, where he was previously exclusively signed. Flórez expressed excitement about his label's debut album, set to release in autumn 2024, which focuses on the zarzuela genre. This inaugural recording features the Sinfonía por el Perú Youth Orchestra and Choir, an organization integral to his philanthropic initiative, Sinfonía por el Perú. The album, conducted by Guillermo García Calvo, also celebrates Flórez's return to the genre that first propelled him into the opera world as a young vocalist and songwriter.
Accompanying the album release, Flórez will embark on a tour of prominent European cultural hubs, performing selected romances and orchestral pieces. Scheduled stops include Teatro Real in Madrid on September 19, Palau de la Música Catalana in Barcelona on September 21, Vienna Konzerthaus on September 24, Victoria Hall in Geneva on September 27, and Philharmonie de Paris on September 30.
Reflecting on his upcoming projects, Flórez mentioned his roles in "Ermione" in Pesaro this August and a concert with the RTV Slovenia Symphony Orchestra in Ljubljana under the baton of Oksana Lyniv. He will also present a recital at the Große Festspielhaus in Salzburg alongside pianist Vincenzo Scalera.
