Jonas Kaufmann was recently bestowed with the Ordre de la Légion d’honneur.

The renowned tenor was granted this distinction on January 12, 2024, at the residence of the French Embassy in Austria, with the honor being conferred by the Ambassador of the Republic of France, Prof. Dr. Gilles Pécout. Kaufmann was conferred with the title of Knight.

During the ceremony, Pécout remarked, “France pays tribute to a virtuoso in his field who elevates the French repertoire to a significant position on the global stage. He is adored by his French audience, who fervently follow him to prestigious concert halls worldwide. (...) It brings me great pleasure to underscore the significance of the relationship between Austria, Germany, and France by bestowing this honor upon the singer.”

Looking ahead, Kaufmann is scheduled to embark on a tour next month, where he will be performing "The Sound of Movies" in various cities, including Naples, Prague, and Baden-Baden.
