20 August, 2024

Jonas Kaufmann and Diana Damrau are set to perform together at the Hollywood Bowl on September 12, with Gustavo Dudamel conducting. The concert will highlight 19th-century Viennese waltzes from beloved operas and operettas by Lehár and the Strauss family, as well as compositions by Richard Strauss and Suppe. Dudamel will lead the Los Angeles Philharmonic for this event.

This performance marks another joint appearance by Damrau and Kaufmann, following their series of Lieder concerts that were released on CD and DVD. The duo has upcoming concerts scheduled for the 2025 season in Prague, Essen, Vienna, Paris, Linz, and Barcelona. Meanwhile, Kaufmann will open the season at Teatro alla Scala in "La Forza del Destino," and Damrau will debut the role of the Marschallin in "Der Rosenkavalier" at the Berlin State Opera.

The Hollywood Bowl's season will also feature performances by Natalia Lafourcade, Midori, Boyz II Men, Camilo, and a showing of "The Sound of Music."
