Soprano Jessica Pratt has withdrawn from her upcoming performances at the Arena di Verona.
In her statement, Pratt explained, “Unfortunately, due to personal reasons, I will not be taking part in this season’s productions of ‘Barbiere di Siviglia’ or ‘Carmina Burana’ with the Arena di Verona. My next engagement after the summer will be my mad scenes concert with the Orchestra and Chorus of Maggio Musicale on September 12.”
This announcement follows Pratt's participation in the company’s June 7 opening night concert, “La Grande Opera Italiana Patrimonio dell’Umanità,” where she performed Norma’s “Casta Diva.”
The Arena di Verona has not yet announced a replacement for Pratt. The final performances of “Il Barbiere di Siviglia” are scheduled for August 24, 31, and September 6, 2024, while “Carmina Burana” will be performed on September 1, 2024.
