Houston Grand Opera is introducing its inaugural "HGO Family Day," set to take place on November 9, 2024, at the Brown Theater within the Wortham Theater Center. The event, spanning 90 minutes, will showcase a rendition of Rossini’s "Cenerentola," helmed by mezzo-soprano Isabel Leonard in the director's chair.

Khori Dastoor, General Director and CEO of Houston Grand Opera, emphasized the significance of having Leonard, not only as a prominent opera figure but also as a mother, direct this special occasion. Dastoor highlighted Leonard's remarkable artistry and her profound understanding of family dynamics, ensuring an extraordinary opera experience for all attendees. Furthermore, Dastoor underscored HGO's commitment to supporting artist parents, especially women, who have historically encountered notable obstacles in the industry.

Apart from the performance, children will partake in various engaging activities including coloring, crafts, photo opportunities, interactive sessions with costumed characters, and more, both before the show and during intermission.
