Grzegorz Nowak, a distinguished Polish conductor, has been selected to take on the esteemed role of Music Director and Principal Conductor at the Philippine Philharmonic Orchestra (PPO). This prestigious position had been vacant since Yoshikazu Fukumara's resignation in 2021.

During the PPO's 38th season, a selection of five accomplished conductors were chosen for appearances with the orchestra. Grzegorz Nowak led a captivating concert in October 2022, featuring compositions by Lucio San Pedro, Mendelssohn, Tchaikovsky, and Stravinsky. His exceptional performance led to his triumphant appointment as the successful candidate for the role.

Nowak's journey in conducting began when he emerged as the victor in the Ernest Ansermet Conducting Competition held in Geneva. Simultaneously, he was honored with the title of European Musician of the Year by a panel chaired by Pierre Boulez.

His illustrious career has encompassed collaborations with renowned orchestras such as the London Symphony Orchestra, the Orchestre National de France, and the Hong Kong Philharmonic. He also held the esteemed position of Music Director at the Polish National Opera from 2017 to 2020.

Among his notable associations, Nowak is most closely linked with the Royal Philharmonic Orchestra. His journey with the orchestra commenced in 2015 as the Associate Conductor and later, in 2008, he ascended to the role of Principal Associate Conductor.

Nowak pursued his education in conducting, composition, and violin at the Ignacy Jan Paderewski Academy of Music in Poznań, Poland. He furthered his academic journey by attaining a doctoral degree from the Eastman School of Music.
