French Conductor Marie Jacquot Named Principal Visitor Conductor of Vienna Symphony for 2023-2024 Season
31 March, 2023

French conductor Marie Jacquot will get on her new title as the new Principal Visitor Conductor of the Vienna Symphony at the opening of the two thousand twenty-three/twenty-four season. Jacquot made her debut with the orchestra for their pandemic-induced "Living Room Concerts" in two thousand-twentieth, and since then has returned to work with the ensemble at the Bregenz Festival, the Konzarthaus Vienna, and the Musikverein. Jacquot initially studied the trombone in Paris, then pursued conducting studies in Vienna and Weimar.

She was the two thousand nineteen recipient of the Ernest Schuch Prize and was nominated for Newcomer of the Year at the International Opera Awards. She's also worked as the helper to Kirill Petrenko at the Bavarian State Opera. Jacquot regularly appears with orchestras such as DSO Berlin, the Gewandhausorchester Leipzig, and the Staatskapelle Dresden. In August two thousand twenty-four, she'll get up a post as Principal Conductor of the Royal Danish Theatre Copenhagen. "The Wiener Symphoniker are a mirror of the city, its openness and its joie de vivre," said January Nast, the Intendant of the Vienna Symphony. "I'm all the more pleased that Marie Jacquot, as Principal Visitor Conductor of the Wiener Symphoniker, will be making music with this orchestra in this city and beyond the 23-24 season."

"Marie Jacquot is a grand conductor, discovers a new repertoire in her first programs with the Symphoniker — and her claim to making music as a collective journey of discovery includes us all. I see forward to future concerts with her."
