Fort Worth Opera Presents 'An Evening with Morris Robinson': A Celebration of Juneteenth and American Musical Heritage
June 7, 2024

Fort Worth Opera is preparing to present ‘An Evening with Morris Robinson.’

During this special event scheduled for June 18, 2024, at the Kimbell Art Museum, the renowned bass will showcase selections from the classical repertoire along with traditional Black spirituals in commemoration of Juneteenth. Accompanying Robinson will be pianist Caren Levine.

Angela Turner Wilson, General & Artistic Director of Fort Worth Opera, expressed gratitude for the opportunity to honor Opal Lee, known as the ‘Grandmother of Juneteenth,’ and to provide the community with the chance to witness the unique talent of Robinson, whose life reflects an exceptional American narrative.

Following his participation in Los Angeles Opera's production of Puccini’s “Turandot,” where he portrays Timur, Robinson will grace Fort Worth before heading to the Metropolitan Opera to star in Verdi’s “Aida,” directed by Michael Mayer.
