Experiments in Opera Announces Bold 2025 Winter/Spring Season Featuring World Premieres and Cutting-Edge Performances

Experiments in Opera has announced its 2025 Winter/Spring season lineup.

Soprano Anchal Dhir and mezzo-soprano Rocky Duval will present a workshop performance of Custom of the Coast by Kamala Sankaram and Paul Muldoon. They will be accompanied by the Flux Quartet. This piece, co-presented by Works & Process and National Sawdust, will have its world premiere at the Kilkenny Arts Festival in August 2025.

Performance Date: February 9, 2025 (National Sawdust)

SOLOperas will feature a double bill of new operas for solo performers. Jason Cady’s This is Not About Natalie stars soprano Sarah Daniels, who sings and plays electric guitar while incorporating ventriloquism. Anna Heflin’s The INcomplete Cosmicomics will be performed by actor and cellist Aaron Wolff as Qfwfq, a character from Italo Calvino's work. The production is directed by Shannon Sindelar.

Performance Dates: March 20-22, 2025 (The Tank)

After seven years of development, Rainbird by Aaron Siegel and Mallory Catlett will have its world premiere. Vocalists Gelsey Bell, Katie Geissinger, Chris DiMeglio, and Shurmi Dhar will be joined by instrumentalists Tariq Al-Sabir, Andie Tanning, and Jess Tsang. The production is directed by Mallory Catlett.

Performance Dates: April 16-20, 2025 (Mabou Mines)
