Countertenor Jakub Józef Orliński Receives Gold Gloria Artis Medal for Merit in Culture from Poland’s Ministry of Culture
18 August, 2024

Countertenor Jakub Józef Orliński has been honored with The Gold Gloria Artis Medal for Merit in Culture by Poland’s Ministry of Culture and National Heritage.

Orliński shared his excitement, saying, “Yesterday was a day I’ll never forget! I’m still coming to terms with everything that has happened over the past month. There have been so many extraordinary experiences and achievements that I never imagined. Following our concert with Aleksander Dębicz, I was presented with The Gold Gloria Artis Medal by Hanna Wróblewska from the Ministry of Culture and National Heritage. I was completely taken aback! The honor was a surprise, and I could only accept it with a few tears.”

He continued, “I feel incredibly thankful that I’m able to pursue my passion and do so alongside such remarkable people who I consider friends. Collaborating with them is a true gift, and showcasing our work around the world is another wonderful aspect. I am so fortunate to have so many people attending our performances! Honestly, I still can’t quite believe it. I hope this never becomes a routine for me. I owe a great deal to my collaborators—without them, there would be no me. Special thanks to Michal Biel for his constant support and for the idea behind the Polish Album. It was amazing to share these Polish songs with audiences who didn’t understand the words but were still enchanted by their beauty.”

This season, Orliński will be performing at the Bayreuth Baroque Festival, touring with Il Pomo d’Oro, and continuing his collaboration with Aleksander Dębicz.
