22 June, 2024

The TAWANI Foundation, established in 2002 by Colonel (IL) Jennifer N. Pritzker, IL ARNG (Retired), aims to support various causes including arts, culture, historic preservation, human rights, and environmental initiatives. Recently, the foundation made a substantial contribution of $10 million to the Chicago Symphony Orchestra Association (CSOA) as part of the "SEMPRE ALWAYS: The Campaign for the Chicago Symphony Orchestra." This campaign seeks to raise $175 million for the CSO, focusing on financial sustainability by reducing debt and fully funding the musicians’ pension plan.

Additionally, the funding from TAWANI will enhance the orchestra’s educational and community engagement programs, promoting musical excellence. TAWANI’s contribution includes a $5 million challenge grant to encourage further donations. The CSO, founded in 1891, performs over 150 concerts annually worldwide and has built a distinguished discography.

Colonel Pritzker, a longtime supporter and current CSOA Board Member, expressed pride in backing the Chicago Symphony Orchestra through the TAWANI Foundation, highlighting the arts’ profound impact in uniting communities and inspiring future generations.

CSOA President Jeff Alexander emphasized the significance of TAWANI’s leadership gift, noting its critical role in ensuring financial stability, sustaining musical excellence, and expanding educational outreach for years to come.
