Cellist Christopher Mui Joins Singapore Symphony Orchestra: A Harmonious Journey

In addition to his role as a cellist, Christopher Mui also assumes the position of cellist in the Glenn Gould Piano Trio.

Christopher Mui, an Australian cellist, has recently taken up the role of a cellist within the Singapore Symphony Orchestra (SSO).

Mui pursued his studies at the Yong Siew Toh Conservatory of Music in Singapore, having been instructed by notable teachers such as Uzi Wiesel, Li Wei Qin, Ernst Simon Glaser, Job ter Haar, and Ole Bohn. Currently, he is pursuing a Specialized Master's Diploma in contemporary music at the Hochschule der Künste Bern under the guidance of David Eggert.

Primarily as a chamber musician, he has given performances in various countries including Switzerland, Norway, Japan, Italy, Brazil, China, and Malaysia. He has also had the opportunity to participate in numerous masterclasses under the mentorship of distinguished artists like Steven Isserlis, Gary Hoffman, Truls Mørk, Tsuyoshi Tsutsumi, and has been involved in projects where he performed works by Helmut Lachenmann and Georg Friedrich.

Christopher Mui has been recognized for his talents, winning the Most Promising Player award at the Gisborne International Music Competition in New Zealand and achieving 3rd Prize in the Boris Pergamenschikow Preis for Contemporary Chamber Music. He was also chosen as a representative performer at the Pacific Alliance of Music Schools in Beijing and took part in the renowned Piatigorsky Cello Festival in Los Angeles.
