Scottish mezzo-soprano Emma Kerr will be honored with two special concerts in 2025.
The first concert is scheduled for February 8, 2025, at St Matthias Church in London, followed by a second performance at Greyfriar’s Kirk in Edinburgh on April 27, 2025. These events will feature prominent classical artists, coming together to celebrate Kerr's life and her profound passion for music.
The performers include former colleagues and friends of Kerr from the Guildhall School of Music and Drama, as well as singers from the English National Opera, Glyndebourne Opera, Scottish Opera, and Garsington Opera.
Proceeds from both concerts will support The Emma Kerr Classical Singing Award, which helps aspiring Scottish mezzo-sopranos who may face financial barriers to attending the prestigious Oxenfoord Summer School.
Kerr, who passed away in 2021, was named Scottish Opera’s Emerging Artist between 2015 and 2017, was a Samling Artist in 2016, and won the Audience Prize at the Peter Hulsen Orchestra Song Award in 2017. She also performed with the Glyndebourne Chorus and became a Jerwood Young Artist in 2015.
