Eden Shifroni has been named the winner of the Melba Opera Trust’s Alastair Jackson International Opera Award.

This prestigious Australian award will cover two years of tuition and living expenses to support her studies at the Royal College of Music in London.

The soprano is also a recent honoree of the Marianne Mathy Scholarship at the IFAC Handa Australian Singing Competition and the JSRB Foundation Award at the Joan Sutherland and Richard Bonynge Be Canto Award Finals.

“I was completely stunned when they offered me the Award,” Shifroni shared in an official statement. “I’m so grateful, as this feels like the perfect next step in my journey. Everything aligned so well, and I am deeply thankful for the support of Melba and their transformative approach to both personal and professional development.”

The award is open to Australian singers under 30, who auditioned in both London and Australia.

“Eden distinguished herself from a highly competitive field with her remarkable vocal quality, artistry, and musicality, making her the ideal recipient of Alastair Jackson’s generous award and the vision behind the Royal College of Music/Melba Opera Trust collaboration,” commented Nicholas Sears, Head of Vocal and Opera at the Royal College of Music. “We are all excited to work with Eden and help provide her with the best possible preparation for her future career as an outstanding young artist.”
