Andrés Orozco-Estrada, a 45-year-old conductor from Colombia, has been chosen as the principal conductor of the RAI National Symphony Orchestra. His appointment will begin in October and will last for a period of three years. In addition to this, starting from the 2025/2026 season, Orozco-Estrada will also serve as the Generalmusikdirektor of Cologne, overseeing the Gürzenich Orchestra and the City Opera. Apart from these prestigious positions, he currently holds the role of principal conductor for the Filarmónica Joven de Colombia. In November, he will lead the orchestra on a tour at the Philharmonie de Paris.
