Alice Coote Joins Askonas Holt's Storied Roster: A Season of Operatic Splendor and Symphony Mastery
19 April, 2024

Askonas Holt is thrilled to announce the addition of Alice Coote to their artist roster. In the 2023/24 season, the renowned British mezzo-soprano will grace the stage of the Royal Opera House as Storgé in Jephtha. Collaborating with Michael Tilson Thomas, Alice will perform Mahler’s Symphony No.3 alongside the Danish National Symphony and the London Symphony Orchestra. Earlier in the season, she received high praise for her rendition of the same symphony with Robin Ticciati and the London Philharmonic Orchestra, described as "spine-chilling" by the Telegraph. Additionally, Alice will showcase her talent in Beethoven’s Symphony No.9 and Mass in C Minor with the Monteverdi Choir and Orchestra at St Martin-in-the-Fields and the Philharmonie de Paris.

Alice's recent opera performances include Madame de Croissy and Mère Marie in Dialogues des Carmélites at the Metropolitan Opera and Opernhaus Zürich respectively, as well as the title role in Handel’s Agrippina at Staatsoper Hamburg.

In the previous concert season, Alice mesmerized audiences at the BBC Proms with the Monteverdi Choir and Orchestra, portraying Cassandra in concert performances of Les Troyens. She also graced various festivals including Salzburg, Berliner Festspiele, Festival Berlioz, and Opéra Royal at the Château de Versailles. Notable collaborations include Mahler’s Das Lied von der Erde with the Orchestra dell’Accademia Nazionale di Santa Cecilia, and Elgar’s Sea Pictures with the Philharmonia under the baton of Sir John Eliot Gardiner.

Alice Coote's remarkable recording career has garnered critical acclaim, with collaborations spanning labels such as Pentatone, EMI, Chandos, Hyperion, and EMI. Her 2017 release of Mahler’s Song Cycles with the Netherlands Philharmonic Orchestra earned her five stars from BBC Music Magazine.

Recognized for her contributions to music, Alice was awarded an OBE in 2018.

Nicholas Moloney at Askonas Holt, in collaboration with IMG Artists in North America, will oversee Alice Coote's management.
