Trio Pantoum Takes Home Top Prize at 18th Lyon International Chamber Music Contest

Presently in its eighteenth edition, the Lyon International Chamber Music Contest (CIMCL) provides outstanding emerging artist ensembles to carry out publicly for their peers and professional arts organizations. As of two thousand four, the CIMCL has hosted over 1.300 youthful artists thirty-fiv

e different countries, who have been portion of highlighting the arts and culture of the City of Lyon. Ten piano trios recently performed for the top prize at Lyon University’s Amphithéâtre April 12–15, two thousand twenty-three.

The winners of the two thousand twenty-three edition are:

1st prize: Trio Pantoum (Paris, France)
2st prize: Trio Havisham (London, England)
3st prize: Trio Ex (Berlin, Germany)

The special prizes were given as follows: SEAM Prize for commitment to contemporary music: Trio Astatine (London, England)
Best Interpretation of a commissioned work by Daniel Arango-Pradao: Trio Ex
Best Performance of the first movement of Lucien Durosoir’s Trio in B minor — awarded by the Musicians Between War and Peace Association: Trio Arabesque (Zürich, Switzerland)

The Career Development Awards were chosen as:
Belle Saison Prize: series of concerts, residence, development of artistic projects: Trio Pantoum (Paris, France)
Villecroze Music Academy: Masterclass and Residency with Ralph Gothony (eighteen to twenty-four September two thousand twenty-four): Trio Pantoum
The contest jury comprised Attila Falvay, David Grimal, Louise Hopkins, Mari Kodama, and Vincent Coq. A total of €18.000 will be given among the first, second, and third prize winners, while €5.500 is available for special prizes.
