Лютий 12, 2024

Jeffrey Kahane, renowned conductor, pianist, and educator, has been appointed as the new Music Director of the San Antonio Philharmonic. His tenure will commence with the start of the 2024/25 season, serving an initial three-year term.

Equally adept on the podium and at the piano, Kahane's career took off following his victory at the Arthur Rubinstein International Competition in 1983. He ventured into conducting shortly thereafter, first at the Oregon Bach Festival and later as Music Director of the Santa Rose Symphony.

For twenty seasons, Kahane has helmed the Los Angeles Chamber Orchestra, overseeing acclaimed tours of both the East Coast and Europe. He spearheaded the introduction of Sound Investment, an initiative facilitating the commissioning process and offering patrons insight into the creation of new works.

Roberto Treviño, Executive Director of the San Antonio Philharmonic, emphasized Kahane's understanding of the importance of engaging with all community members, highlighting the orchestra's commitment to inclusivity.

Expressing his gratitude, Kahane remarked, "I am deeply honored to assume the role of Music Director for the San Antonio Philharmonic. My history with the orchestra spans over three decades, and I am thrilled to contribute to its legacy in one of America’s most culturally significant cities."

Reflecting on the power of orchestras to unite diverse perspectives, Kahane added, "I believe that orchestras represent the beauty of human cooperation, demonstrating the ability of individuals from varied backgrounds to unite in pursuit of a common goal."
