Rai5 will broadcast the opening night performance of Verdi’s Simon Boccanegra from the Teatro dell’Opera di Roma.

The recording will be produced by Rai Cultura and will air at 7:15 p.m. on November 27, 2024. The production is directed by Richard Jones, with sets and costumes designed by Antony McDonald. The performance will be conducted by Michele Mariotti, with Luca Salsi in the title role of Simon Boccanegra, Eleonora Buratto as Amelia, and Stefan Pop as Gabriele Adorno.

The cast also includes Michele Pertusi as Jacopo Fiesco and Gevorg Hakobyan as Paolo Albiani.

This is the latest in a series of opening nights produced by Rai5 for the Teatro dell’Opera di Roma, following Mefistofele and Dialogues des Carmélites.

Simon Boccanegra will run through December 5, 2024.
