Pianist and educator Peter Jutras has been appointed as the incoming Dean of the Cincinnati Conservatory of Music (CCM) at the University of Cincinnati (UC). Formerly associated with the University of Georgia, where he held positions as a piano professor and pedagogue, as well as the director of the Hugh Hodgson School of Music, Jutras brings a wealth of experience to his new role.

During his tenure at the Hodgson School spanning 18 years, Jutras held various leadership positions, including that of associate director for research and graduate studies, before ultimately assuming the directorship. His efforts were notably focused on enhancing the school's curriculum to be more adaptable and pertinent, resulting in the introduction of several new academic offerings.

A frequent contributor to both national and international conferences, Jutras is also recognized for his numerous research contributions published in esteemed academic journals. Additionally, he served as the editor-in-chief of Clavier Companion Magazine for eleven years, a prominent publication in the field of piano pedagogy.

Expressing his gratitude for the appointment, Jutras stated, "It is with great honor and privilege that I accept the role of Dean at UC College-Conservatory of Music. My dedication lies in advancing the global presence of music and the arts, while providing unwavering support to students, faculty, and staff."

Jutras eagerly anticipates collaborating with members of both the UC and Cincinnati communities to further enrich the college's illustrious legacy, ensuring that students are equipped for impactful careers that contribute positively to society.

Valerio Ferme, the Provost and Executive Vice President of Academic Affairs, remarked on Jutras's exemplary qualities, highlighting his inclusive leadership, forward-thinking approach, fiscal acumen, community engagement, and student-centric curriculum development. These attributes, Ferme believes, will propel the College-Conservatory of Music forward, maintaining its status as a globally esteemed institution in the performing and media arts.

Furthermore, Ferme emphasized Jutras's proficiency in fostering interdisciplinary collaborations, particularly with programs in the humanities and sciences, which will further drive the institution's innovative educational initiatives.
