The Orquesta Sinfónica del Principado de Asturias has announced through its board of directors that Oriol Roch has been selected to serve as the organization's new General Manager. This significant appointment comes after a comprehensive selection process that evaluated numerous qualified candidates for this leadership role.
Following approval from the board of governors, Roch will officially assume his new responsibilities and begin collaborating with Music Director Nuno Coelho. Coelho currently holds his position under an existing agreement that extends through 2027, ensuring continuity in the orchestra's artistic leadership during this transition period.
The selection of Roch emerged from a competitive field of 15 applicants, with his appointment being attributed to both his innovative strategic proposals and his extensive background within the classical music industry. His comprehensive experience and vision for the organization distinguished him among the substantial pool of candidates.
Throughout his career, Roch has accumulated significant leadership experience with various prestigious musical institutions. His portfolio includes managerial roles with the Euskadiko Orkestra, demonstrating his capability in orchestral administration. Additionally, he served as technical director for the Real Filharmonía de Galicia during a decade-long tenure from 2004 to 2014, where he developed his expertise in organizational management.
Earlier in his career, from 1990 to 2002, Roch held the position of General Manager at the Orquestra de Cambra Teatre Lliure, spanning twelve years of administrative leadership. His professional experience also encompasses involvement with the Ayuntamiento de Mataró, further broadening his understanding of cultural administration and municipal arts management.
This appointment represents a strategic move by the Asturias Symphony Orchestra to bring proven leadership and fresh perspectives to their organization, positioning them for continued growth and artistic excellence in the years ahead.
